Divan yolu has many layers just like other historic parts of İstanbul. It was a royal road with palaces and mosques in the ottoman period and now a commercial area with cultural functioned historic buildings and shops located between them. But still human perception can separate them from each other; while monumental buildings takes attention with their monumental looking(texture, proportions, heavy structure), shops attracts people with their showcases(products, interior of shops).  This contrast of solid-void melts down on the historic buildings which are in  commercial use. In the drawing; buildings’ facades dominant part(solid or void) placed on their outer plan lines, since in the human scale outer border is first to notice and welcoming showcases includes their interior to open street space.
